Story-in-Short:

Do you have a permanent dream? I know the answer of the majority will be yes. Vinayak (lead character) had one too. But what if your dream will scatter like a pack of cards and it becomes certain that you can never achieve your goal.

What if you lose someone dear, your studies left in between, unwillingly get married at an early age, have to bear most of the responsibilities and internal strife of your joint family (that too at an early-age), hated by your wife and in-laws, lose your health and natural-you and finally find yourself doing an unwanted 3rd grade clerical job.

It is impossible to see another dream now (while pain for the first one still lingers), it is possible to focus when you are struggling for almost everything? The answer is yes. This is a story of a boy who lost previous years of his early twenties just to find out what could be his second dream since from childhood he wanted to do something ‘big.’ He had to fight almost everything to achieve his dream. An Immortal Story is the story of struggle with own struggle for love, struggle with life, with society and for career. This is the story of tolerance beyond limit. If you are down in any field of life this story will hold your hand, let you up and give the courage to follow your positive side of heart. Welcome to ‘An Immortal Story’ – A life giving tale.

In my view:

Life is really complex. It definitely isn’t as we perceive it to be. So-far, you must have read stories of wife’s and girlfriends being dependant on their husbands or boyfriends but this story that debutant author Satyendra Dhariwal gets is the opposite.

Vipul, an aspiring author is damn happy as he gets praises for his manuscript from Vinayak Chaudhary. Vinayak Chaudhary is a reputed author of three block buster novels and is himself the protagonist of this story. Vipul gets an invitation from Vinayak and when he goes there, Vinayak forwards a contract to him. Now, this contract is for narration of a novel based on a story given by Vinayak. Vipul thinks a bit and signs the contract following which Vinayak begins to narrate the story to Vipul.

Vinayak is a boy coming from a poor background. His family; joint family to be precise, isn’t living in good times. Yet, Vinayak develops his love towards cricket and writing. He drops studies after his Junior College and takes up a job, as a clerk, at a place away from his village. Then one day there comes a proposal for him. This proposal is bought by his sister for marriage.

From first sight itself, Sneha gets trapped into Vinayak’s eyes and he starts falling for her. With family consent, both engage. But situations change after sometime when Sneha sounds a bit irritated while talking to Vinayak. Meanwhile, Vinayak resigns from his job as he is pissed off by the nature of his seniors. After marriage Vinayak becomes financially depended on the money earned by Sneha. Nights full of sorrows pass by and one fine day, after their marriage Vinayak discovers something shocking.
What does Vinayak finds, Will this love story continue or will there be an end to it? Read the book to find more!

Over-all: By looking at the cover of the book readers might not pick it up. And the title too, will add to the ignorance towards the book. Both the cover as well as the title should have been better. The beginning and the ending of the story is good.

The story seems to be interesting in the initial stage. But as it proceeds, interest of a reader tends to dodge. Especially, when the protagonist converses with Sneha, questions like Do you love me, Are you Happy with me, constantly turn up several times in the dialogues which irritates a reader. I think the author had many ways of giving this story a different and interesting turn but he stuck to the same style and questions.

Grammatically too, I found some mistakes in the book which definitely could have been avoided. Well, this was the author’s debut novel and I am sure that in his next novels these things will be taken care off.

Considering everything, I would rate the book with 2.5/5. Congratulations to the author for his debut novel. Hope he keeps on writing and comes up with more novels!

Note: A reviewer’s copy of the book was provided by the author.
