Review: Life and Promises.

  • Book: Life and Promises.
  • Authors: Pulkit Gupta and Ila Garg.
  • Publication House: Author's Empire Publications.
  • Category: Fiction.
  • Rating: **** 1/2 (4 and 1/2 out of 5)

Story-in-Short:

Rachit, a young, ambitious boy, hailing from a small town of Western UP, has big dreams. Destiny takes a turn when he attempts to commit suicide and lands up in a hospital bed.

There, he bumps into Khushi, a chubby girl with a carefree attitude. She insists Rachit to uncover the pages of his life and tell her – what compelled him to take such a drastic step.

Rachit starts to narrate his story, seeing no other option. He tells her that he dreamt to be an IITian and even achieved it. Things went well for some days, till that fateful day when Rachit was diagnosed with severe health issues.

After a while, already heartbroken, Rachit takes a tough decision. He drops his IIT dream and follows the CA path. In this very process, he overlooks Radhika, a gorgeous Bengali girl, his batch mate as well as his girlfriend.

In My View:

First a confession: My words will surely fall of short if I begin describing this book which I have began calling ‘a masterpiece of romance.’ I have read so many novels on the topic of love and romance but this is a truly distinctive work. I received three books from Pulkit but chose to read this as it has a fabulous cover. The publication house Author’s Empire must be credited for the enthralling book cover.

Now, coming to the review of the book. The story begins at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi where Rachit meets Khushi. Khushi tries to interact with Rachit who responds angrily to her. Despite of having faced his anger, Khushi shows kindness by helping him when nobody does. A desperate Khushi then asks him about the reason for his presence in the hospital. This is when Rachit confesses to her that he’d committed a suicide. Rachit then divulges the story of his life. He reveals how his happy life suddenly disrupts due to the illness, how he was forced to give up his dream of becoming an IITian and later had to pursue CA and how things start going haywire in his life. And this is the juncture from where the actual and the crucial story further unfolds which you yourself need to capture.

  • Authors: Pulkit Gupta and Ila Garg.
When I began reading the book, I developed a kind of bond with it. Although it's a love story, yet it has so many slots, phrases and lines which develop a positive attitude towards life. The story is so interesting that it makes one forget all downs in life and keeps one engrossed in it. I must credit Pulkit and Ila for presenting this story wherein human emotions, expressions, thoughts are so minutely described.

The poetic lines of Rachna Sheth embellishes the prettiness of each and every story. It pulls a reader deeper and deeper inside the story. Rachna should be credited for her brilliant and beautiful poetic lines which gives this book a very different flavor.

This book gets you a mixture of emotions, feelings and kindness. It is a marvelous book which you once start reading would not like to place apart. I would surely request the book lovers, readers and all my dear friends (especially teenagers like me) to invest money for this book and have a great time reading it. In fact, get your copies today.
