Unsafe Auto's on the streets

Recently news reports said auto drivers across Mumbai were using fake meter cards and were cheating its customers. Except of some, many commuters then turned to B.E.S.T buses. It was after a week when the auto union took mandatory measures against the cheating's now, every auto was seen with a meter card stuck in it. Preparing fake cards and charging extra money just had a single objective – earning more. But, now when the original meter cards have been unveiled by the newspapers, there are no chances of cheating. The question which now harasses them is how to make more money? To earn more, now they have come-up with a fresh new idea - robbing customers.

A model-cum-actor boarded in auto from Lokmanya Tilak Junction. Her destination was Andheri but she was taken to Thane. At 4:00am, the actress was shocked when the auto suddenly stopped at an unknown, dark and scary location in Thane. Then the auto driver and his accomplice threw her out of the auto and assaulted her brutally. They snatched her gold chain, stole her cash and left the spot. When the actress called-up the police control room she was told to visit the nearby police station. Seeing her alone at that spot another auto driver took courtesy of dropping her at Andheri. She quickly approached the police station but there the police officials suggested her that she should have called-up the police control room at the right time. Just 24 hours after this incident, a man boarded into an auto rickshaw. The driver stopped the auto at a seclude area near BKC and he was pushed out of the auto. The trio tried to snatch his gold chain which broke down in commotion. One part of it was left with the victim while the other was with the snatchers. The man did not give up, he gave them a tough fight but the over-powered but the trio defeated him. Eventually, he went to BKC police station where he was told to approach Kurla Police station.

These incidents are really horrifying. The auto drivers are spreading out a type of terror on streets. They need to memorize that if they turn dishonest and corrupt, if their brains indulge in such atrocities then they will definitely lose people’s trust and faith on them. Making auto’s unsafe on the streets will never help them earn money.

Many-a-times, the drivers only chooses to drop the commuter travelling to a long distance because they earn money easily and so avoid the others going to a near-by destination. If earning good money is necessity then auto drivers must understand that they need to be honest enough and do their work with full sincerity. Earning money through good means is always euphoric.
